In 2006 when Executive Director, Tanya Fields was still a burgeoning Environmental Justice activist she was featured on B.E.T.’s Meet the Faith to discuss being a low-income woman in the South Bronx.

On Valentine’s Day 2009 Tanya Fields, Executive Director of The BLK ProjeK delivers a stirring speech entitled “A Green Valentine For Tomorrow”. She received a standard ovation. This was also the day the she found out she was pregnant with her youngest daughter, now 16 months old!

In 2008 Tanya Fields, then working at Sustainable South Bronx was interviewed by Matthew Bannister of BBC Outlook for their Black in America series. The family was pegged as “very poor” (which was a bit of an exaggeration), however Tanya Fields was quickly on her way to becoming a community fixture and pulling her family up by their bootstraps.
